I found on this page the note:
Incompatible models on which tp smapi generally does not work:
T430's

Quote:tpacpi-bat – Tool for extended battery functions on Sandy Bridge ThinkPads (X220 / T420) and later models
There seems to be a manual kind of solution for installing "acpi-call".
But I want it to be automatic, since manually installed stuff breaks after a while.

Hi vaikus84,
I've not seen anybody on the forum with the Thinkpad T430
So I think you may get better help on one of the Thinkpad focused forums.
I have a pretty recent HP Laptop ~ TS13, I installed TLP and that was it, never even looked at config options.
All I do know based on how it was before TLP, it runs @ 5C ~ 6C cooler, and battery life is @ 40 mins longer.

That's a good sign for you. But as far as I know. Linux always without exception needs at least some form of tweaking. That goes for almost every package or system there is for it. At least that's my experience. And I have posted these questions in LinuxQuestions.org
