Linux Lite 7.4
In June 2025, I installed Linux Lite 7.4 on a 2007 laptop, replacing the hard drive with a SATA ST916082 1AS (3.2 GB).
The laptop didn't support this hardware configuration, especially the browser, any downloads, etc.; my session would crash, and I'd log out with data loss.
After several months of daily driver, firmware, and other updates, not only does the operating system handle large amounts of data without a hitch, but it does so as quickly as modern computers.
Thank you, guys, for your professionalism and enthusiasm!

| Initial updates to a fresh 6.6 install fail. Problem with chrome key? |

Following a fresh install from the 6.6 iso, the update/upgrade fails reporting
Quote:The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 32EE5355A6BC6E42
Reading package lists...
W: GPG error: https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb stable InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 32EE5355A6BC6E42
E: The repository 'https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb stable InRelease' is not signed.
Examination of the key located in trusted.gpg.d key shows expires 2026-02-14
A workaround is to run this command.
Code: wget -q -O - https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/google.asc >/dev/null
Updates to a pre-existing 6.6 system which has had regular updates applied work ok

| Linux Lite boot USB stuck at GRUB |

Hallo,
when I try to boot Linux Lite from USB, the process gets stuck at GRUB, showing “GRUB loading” “Welcome to GRUB” and a blinking cursor.
Here is some more information:
- USB: tried with 2 types: 16 GB USB 3.0 or 64 GB USB 3.2
- Linux Lite Version: tried with 7.8, 7.6 and 6.6 versions, sha256 sum always verified ok
- USB ISO burner: tried with Rufus 4.12 and 4.11 (trying ISO and DD image), Etcher 2.1.4 and Ventoy 1.1.10 on Windows 11
- PC: tried on two old notebooks:
- HP Pavillon dv6-6b07ez: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5-2430M, 8 GB DDR3 Memory, AMD Radeon HD 6490M video graphics, Intel 6 Series/C200 Chipset, BIOS Insyde Version F.1C, no UEFI, no Secure Boot
- Compaq Presario CQ61: 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 T6500, 4 GB Memory, Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Family, Default System BIOS, no UEFI, no Secure Boot.
BTW: On the HP Pavillon I could boot and install Linux Mint 22.2 Xfce without problems. So, I’m really wondering why GRUB doesn’t work in the Linux Lite distro?
Thank you very much in advance for any hint!
Best regards.
Marco

| Yamaha music keyboard as midi controller |

I am trying to connect the Yamaha music keyboard PSR-e473 as a MIDI controller keyboard in Linux Lite OS.
However, it is not showing and is undetected by my PC running LinuxLiteOS 7.8
I had checked the cable; it is working perfectly with other devices, and the keyboard is recognized by the other device as a MIDI controller.
It will be great if any one of you can guide or share reference documentation for further troubleshooting.
Kind Regards,

Wow. Have not typed on a forum styled like this in a very long time.
7.8 Runs Great. Used it on a 2 Month Old Hasee X5
& I'm using it on my Favorite ride or die HP 15 r029wm Rev: 2213-100
Could use a good first guy crash course. [edit: Oh hey, see that Wiki link right on the Desktop? Booyahh]
MicroSlop CoSlop+ is lame.
Not getting locked out of a laptop all because I am in a car ever again. Linux, I've missed ya, bud.
I Mostly do the live boot thing, but when I get things setup how I want, I'll do Linny Bo Binny Proper. Thank you for your patience as I transend from Linux N0000b to Linux Novice.
