X11VNC refuses connection after LL update

Hi,
I installed the latest LL 3.4 updates and since have not been able to connect to my X11VNC server. It was working just fine before the update.
Being a Linux newbie, other than restarting the service, rebooting and making sure that all settings that were put in place when I installed X11vnc are still there, I have no idea how to troubleshoot this problem. I was able to connect from a RealVNC and Screen Share (Mac) clients but now I get "the connection was refused by the computer" error.
Firewall is disabled in both server and clients.
Any clues to solve this problem are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Oscar

Hi, I have a problem with editing xorg.conf.
I notice that Linux Lite always regenerate the file every-time I restart my computer so problem is how can I enable coolbits? because it always delete
Code: Option "Coolbits" "28"
every boot-up
I have tried edit the file manually and with this command Code: sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=31
but they don't work.

I also have a sound issue with LL 3.4. In order for me to have sound out of my netbook I have to run alsactl restore in the terminal at every boot.
I can confirm that with previous version of LL I had no issues. Is there a way to make this command run at start up so I do not have to enter it every time I restart?
Thanks

Hi everyone
What is the command that's responsible for switching to the next wallpaper (when more then 1 selected in desktop settings) on XFCE?
And how can I add it to the menu on the desktop as an item?
Thanks!

Keeping System Speed

I've been using Linux Lite 3.2 for about 5 months now. Initially the system ran great, very fast, but I've noticed lately some slowing down - thunar, okular, and the menu in particular are much slower. The menu takes about 5 seconds to display, thunar takes about 5-10 seconds, and okular takes about 15 seconds. Some other programs are taking a little longer to open, too, but it's not a huge difference. It's also booting noticeably slower, though the items in the startup apps are basically the same as before.
I've run top in a terminal, and I haven't yet noticed anything taking a significant portion of CPU resources or RAM (usually at 25-30%, and almost nothing in swap). I'm not a computer expert, but I'm thinking it's not a RAM problem.
What do you suggest doing or changing to restore the speed I had in the beginning? What kinds of things or programs do you use to keep your system clean and fast?

Touchpad Settings Reset Even During the Same Session

I normally use a usb mouse, but at the moment, I'm traveling and using the touchpad. I changed the setting in the Mouse and Touchpad settings to disable scrolling, but it resets itself after every boot. Then I noticed that during the same session, the touchpad would change from "disabled scrolling" to "circular scrolling". It's done it several times already on this login/session. What is causing this setting to change on its own? How do I make all the touchpad settings stay the same after rebooting the system?
Update: I've noticed that if I leave the Mouse and Touchpad settings window open, the scrolling option stays disabled. If I close the window, I later notice that it has reset itself to circular scrolling. (Immediately upon closing the window? Not sure.)

Removing signature separator in Thunderbird

I have always used a signature in my accounts in Thunderbird. Now that I'm using SeaMonkey I also use a signature. There has always been a "signature separator" in emails I composed and sent out. I finally decided to find a way to remove it. The separator looks like this "-- " without the quotes. I finally found this on mozillaZine.
Removing the signature separator
If you don't want a "-- " signature separator (the divider between the message body and the signature) use the config editor to change mail.identity.default.suppress_signature_separator from false to true. This requires Thunderbird 5.0 or later. If you are using Windows go to Tools → Options → Advanced → General and press the Config Editor button. Enter suppress_signature_separator in the Filter: field and press return. Find mail.identity.default.suppress_signature_separator in the results and double click on false in its Value column to toggle it to true, then close the config editor and press the OK button.
For those who use SeaMonkey, you can accomplish the same thing using config editor in the browser, then searching for mail.identity.default.suppress_signature_separator and changing the value to true.
