gparted fails to open in LL2.8
Posted by: m654321 - 02-26-2016, 02:01 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (5)

Not sure what's wrong. Need some help with this.  I tried opening gparted, and after entering the requested password simply fails to materialise, even though it is on my setup as confirmed by synaptic package manager.  Haven't had this problem before.  Maybe linked to recently upgrading to LL2.8?

I've tried both the GUI and terminal route - neither works.

Any help is much appreciated

Mike

  LastPass Security Flaw "LostPass"
Posted by: WestX64 - 02-25-2016, 07:42 PM - Forum: Security & Bug Fixes - No Replies

Hello everyone, I came across several news articles today about a LastPass vulnerability that I wanted to ensure everyone was aware of.  Here is one of the articles detailing the matter:

http://betanews.com/2016/01/16/lastpass-...passwords/

Just ensure that if your LastPass is asking you to login, that it's asking it in an actual pop-up window and not within the browser itself.

I have installed new mouse cursor themes but the system will not allow me to change to them. I have searched the forums for this problem first. Any thoughts please?           :-\

Managed to install LL2.8 this afternoon (with minimal fuss) but can't seem to upgrade from the Control-Center or the CLI, anyone else having this problem?

  MouseJack

I personally view this is one of the most serious security threats in recent memory.

Security researchers from the Internet of things security firm Bastille have warned that wireless keyboards and mice from seven popular manufacturers including Logitech, Dell, Microsoft, HP and Lenovo are vulnerable to so-called MouseJack attacks, leaving Billions of computers vulnerable to hackers.

During their tests, researchers were able to generate 1000 words/minute over the wireless connection and install a malicious Rootkit in about 10 seconds. They tested several mice from Logitech, Lenovo, and Dell that operate over 2.4GHz wireless communications.

Installing a PPA from the terminal - need help
Posted by: LinuxNoob - 02-23-2016, 11:55 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (4)

I rarely add ppa's but every time I try it seems to not work. so

[Image: Screenshot%20-%2002232016%20-%20064630%2...crpsrz.png]

With this in front of you how would I apply that in the terminal. Maybe if I see how it's done it will help me in later attempts with other ppa's. Maybe it's not me maybe

Thanks
