1) Keyboard settings - Has been brought up many times, in many posts. We're yet to find a solution.
2) Language Support - This is related to point 1. Therefore we provide a comprehensive tutorial in the Help Manual.

Just as a matter of interest, do the gurus behind each distro ever "talk" to each other. I get the impression that in some areas LL is having to reinvent the wheel as it were? My usual comment that the default set up process for Mint & Puppy  means that keyboard & Language work straight off, and the problem with Google Earth and video card drivers does not raise its head.  This is not meant to be a criticism but  hopefully a helpful prompt??  Says he who has never coded anything in his lifeSmile

Some devs do communicate with each other, remember linux is all about choice. It's a catch22, unify and seek common ground and users will benefit (self explanatory), keep the status quo and the users benefit (give people options). Continued discussion on this best suited to On Topic.

Jerry has suggested that issues brought up in  Re:  Linux Lite 2.4 Beta Released   but would be better discussed here.

  [SOLVED] Dual Booting with Win7
Posted by: Quinco - 03-19-2015, 06:38 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (2)

Windows 7 64bit installed on laptop, installed Linux Lite 64bit and all good. Boot Laptop and grub comes up with LL and Win7, can boot either. What I would like to do is to be able to boot to the Windows boot screen and select either Windows or LL. I have EASYbcb 2.2 installed under Windows but can't seem to configure it to be able to boot from the windows boot screen. I know how to restore the Windows MBR but obviously don't want to do this until I can boot LL from the windows boot screen. Any help appreciated using EasyBcb or any other way to achieve my goal..

  Need help with panel customization
Posted by: Zead - 03-19-2015, 12:25 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (7)

Hey, So I've been playing today a little with my Linux Lite

[Image: bgr2ue.jpg]

and I wanted to know, how to make the panel icons minimazable, or how else to say it.

What I want is. I want the panel icons work the same as the whisker menu works, I don't want any tabs (like the FireFox one in the picture), so the icons will be highlighted if the window is opened or minimized (as the whisker menu in the picture). Click the icon to open and minimize window. First click will open the new window. Right click > new window to open second window.

Something like Unity's left panel. And its pinned icons.

I know it's possible, but it will be hard to do probably. Docky is not exactly what I want.

Thanks.

  [Solved] Where Is Syslog?
Posted by: kjacobs - 03-18-2015, 03:03 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

Me again.....I have noticed that it seems that syslog is missing on LL 2.2 and at least 2 machines built recently. My desktop has a syslog in the VAR/LOG/ folder, but it is empty and dated back in November of last year.

What happened to the logging that posts to syslog, as it is needed for some troubleshooting of other software? ???

Thanks,
Ken

I've added 3 new features to the Forums, and 1 new feature to the main website today:

1) Edit All Message Titles - before when a Topic title was edited, only the first post title was changed, now all titles in that thread are changed. This change will be reflected in the Recent Posts area at the top of the main Forum page.

2) Pretty URL's - this is an amazing mod, it changes the ugly old style link of a post into a SEO friendly link eg.

Link Before - https://mityer.khdlhfjijfrupr.tk/forums/index...n#msg12986
Link After - https://mityer.khdlhfjijfrupr.tk/forums/other...-monitors/

This will significantly increase our visibility for people looking for our help in Search Engines.

  Virtual Consoles with dual Monitors
Posted by: kjacobs - 03-17-2015, 12:57 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (5)

Hi folks,

I just recently installed an old Nvidia GeForce 8400 dual head video card in my LL 2.2 machine and am loving the extra space. However, this morning I tried to access virtual console 1 (Ctrl + Alt + 1) and just got a blank screen. I have an application that runs in the background full time on that virtual console, and I could not see its status. I then tried the other virtual consoles with the same results.....no terminal prompt, just a black screen.

Is there an issue with accessing virtual consoles when using multiple monitors??? This always worked fine when I was using a single screen....

  Black screen after sleep. Asus EEE1025
Posted by: jas - 03-16-2015, 05:02 PM - Forum: Video Cards - Replies (24)

Hello

Just installed LL on my netbook, and I love it, but there is one thing I cannot live with. Looking at this forum, and many others, but cannot find a solution. Maybe, and I hope, there is!

So after putting the lid down of my netbook, or putting it to sleep manually. I cannot see it woken up.

There is a black screen, no mouse cursor, but there is hdd movement. (the led is blinking).
Sometimes, after more than 5 minutes, the login screen appears again. (but that can be because I clicked something in the black screen.)

output of inxi -zv7

  Bluetooth Audio
Posted by: ggilmore27 - 03-16-2015, 12:14 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (3)

I've noticed that in many XFCE spins, there are problems with the bluetooth audio,  I ran across a fix BUT was wondering if it can be included in the next release, see below

Here goes:

1. Modify the file /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf file:

Code:
sudo leafpad /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf

Enter your password, then edit the appropriate area in the configuration file as follows:
Code:
[General]

Enable = Source,Sink,Headset,Gateway,Control,Media
Disable = Socket

HFP=false

[A2DP]
SBCSources=1
MPEG12Sources=0

Reference Link 1: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc...ug/1181106 - post #15

NOTE: In the step above, if you use the info referred to in reference link #1, the 'pactl' commands will fail. Fret not, as it has no effect on the end result. What is important here are the changes to be made in the audio.conf file in the /etc/bluetooth folder to activate A2DP (stereo).

2. For the curious, the second reference link will explain to you why this fix is necessary in more detail:

Reference Link 2: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc...ug/1283003 - post #92

Solving this problem involves:

a. Adding a PPA, and

b. Updating blueman (the Bluetooth manager) and installing the modules that interface Bluetooth with pulseaudio.

c. For Broadcom Bluetooth adapters, downloading the firmware and copying it to the /lib/firmware folder.

First, add the PPA:
