Hello, All!
When installing LL on my Samsung laptop, I noticed that the touchpad jumped all over the place.
I stumbled on a fix elsewhere which was rather hard to find, so thought I'd put it here, also. Here's what you do:
1. Open a terminal window with [CTRL-ALT-T]. Type or cut-and-paste this line:
Code: sudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf
2. In the text editor, type or cut-and-paste the line below:
Code: options psmouse proto=imps
3. Save the newly-created file and close Notepad.
6. Go back to the terminal window and type or cut-and-paste the following:
Code: sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse
Your touchpad should now work properly!
Hope this helps...

Hello, All!
Just finished putting LL amd64 on my Samsung RV515 laptop. Had an issue with the volume control adjustment not functioning.
MY fix: Deleted installed volume control applet and installed it again from the Add menu - the one pointing to xfce4-mixer.
(Or one could just change the file that's called to 'xfce4-mixer' in Properties.).
The BEST fix: Click on the link in the reply...
The audio worked out of the box - it just wouldn't let me turn the volume up or down. The audio never worked at ALL in Lubuntu (LXDE) on this pup!
Hope this helps someone on down the line!

| Incorrect printed image position problem. |

Hi.
I have Linux Lite installed alongside Vista Ultimate.
I have installed the drivers for our printer, a Brother DCP-135C, unfortunately the print image is not in the correct position on the printed page.
The printed image is so high that when using Times-Roman 12 font, only half of the top line of text is printed on the top edge of the page.
The header/footer and margins are appropriately set.
Does any one have a suggestion?
Regards...

Hello.
My laptop seems to get quite hot during use and the fan doesn't seem to kick in as it used to when I ran Windows.
I've googled the problem and it seems quite a common problem with Linux. I'm hoping some one here can help me out.
I have an HP DV6 Pavilion. The fan is OK as if I shut down Linux, reboot, and break into the BIOS, the fan starts up as it used to in Windows and attempts to cool things down.
Thanks for any help.

After installing the last round of updates, I lost my extended desktop, and when I try to open Catylist, I get a message that no supported card is installed. "Install drivers'" comes up with a blank window, while my Radion HD4200 intigrated graphic chip shows if I run sudo lshw -C display in a terminal window. It is not listed under system information. HELP!

| Customising/changing the boot splash screen |

So I'm well into changing features on my OS, and was wondering about the boot splash screen?
Now I know there's a panel that you can change the splash screen and I have done so but it doesn't seem to be the part I want to change. I figure the definition of a boot splash screen is the one that is viewed when the OS is booting up, however, I get the plain looking grey one with the loading bar - that is really dull in my opinion - and then the boot splash screen I chose loads up just before my desktop wallpaper appears.
I'm fine with the plain command-line interface of Grub (where I choose OS to boot up right), it's just the ugly grey one that appears before this I would like to change?
Answers would be appreciated thanks. Also, my screen resolution is 1024 by 768 on XP and would like the same on Linux but I'm not given the option (it's only an ever so slight cut off at the top of my screen) not bothered so much, so I don't think I'll create a new topic. However, shouldn't I be able to change it, it seems only to allow 1024x576.

The XFCE Weather Applet no longer updates and as a result it is no longer able to fetch data.
Here is the fix:
Code: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dtl131/mediahacks
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xfce4-weather-plugin
sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:dtl131/mediahacks
