Sorry if posting in the wrong spot.  Received some updates Wed and now I cannot get into my system.  Even an older package does not work as well as a recovery one which goes on forever.   Typing in help brings up a long line of cryptic to mestuff that I cannot copy to post.  Using LLOS 4.8???  I have an old backup, but not sure how to get to it and it would be way to old anyway.  I will run Gparted and find out the drive.  I have  a system and a user partition.  If I need to reinstall, will my user partition remain usable?  This happened once before from an update, but I was able to use an older package , but not this time.  thanks for any help

Don't know if the information in this link will be relevant. https://ostechnix.com/how-to-fix-busybox...on-ubuntu/

Saw that page already.  The help command is not giving me that response.  I plan to run fsck nayway once I figure out the partition name.  I need something that will read ext-4 partitions in Windows.  Downloaded the newest versionof Gparted live and hope that works better than the older version I have.

The only exe file I can find is a 32bit and a 64 bit.  The 64  bit file does not  open anything.

Not sure what exe file you are referring to. According to the instructions in the link, this might work from the Busybox (initramfs) prompt. Quote:You can use cat /proc/partitions or blkid or lsblk commands to get your Linux partition details in Busybox Good luck.

Found the partition name with another utility and ran fsck and said Y to everything and it seemed to fix things.
