Other operating systems that are validating support for snaps include CentOS, Elementary OS, Gentoo, Linux Mint, OpenSUSE, OpenWRT, and RHEL.

Yeah, OK thanks.  I thought it was much further along based on news item. Sounds like it's more a marketing pitch, perhaps by Cononical to try to persuade others into adopting it.
