Hello everyone,
My laptop (Lenovo G40-30) freezes from time to time, ever since I installed LL. My keyboard & mouse get frozen too, so I have to always do a hard reset. This is really annoying, Any help, please?

Hi EV1, back with a new laptop Asus X541S. I keep the almost new SSD drive from my old Inspiron 1501 with 3.6 on it and after 2 weeks, finally got feed up with Windows 10. Changed out HDD to SDD and fired it up. WaLa, off and running. Everything works and updated to 3.8, so far no problems. Had to change the hostname and that is all. Thanks Jerry and staff for this wonderful OS!

Still a tiny problem with 'suspend'.

I had suspend right here after an update some time ago, but after a recent update the problem was there once again. Every second time I suspend and boot, the pc holds for about three-quarter of a minute.
It looks it has something to do with the net connection, but I'm certainly not an expert. For the rest no problem.
No big deal, but a little strange in my opinion.
What could be done against it? :?:

Something happened while I was uninstalling Wine and PlayOnLinux through Lite Software. The PlayOnLinux menu shortcut is still there when it is uninstalled. Sort of a nuisance. Tried updating and cleaning (sudo apt-get clean). Any help, please?

Until PCLinuxOS (PCLOS) discontinued support for 32 bit systems, like mine, I was a happy user, running a MATE desktop interface. They offered an easy to use Linux environment (important for a non-techie like me), excellent documentation, and a great, supportive user community.

In seeking a replacement for PCLOS, Linux Lite looks right. I would like to install it on my computer, but there are potential problems for which I would appreciate your help.

The computer is of an older vintage, as you might assume, since it is 32 bit, not 64 bit. It does, however, meet the specifications for 32 bit Linux Lite. It is set up as a dual boot, with PCLOS what it boots into at startup, and Windows XP being the other boot choice. Windows XP has not been connected to the Internet since Microsoft ended support. XP is, however, useful for some legacy programs.

The computer has been booting from Puppy Linux, of a couple of varieties, from DVD. It now boots from Xenialpup. Although launched from DVD, its small requirements means that it can run from RAM, of which the computer has 2GB. The hard drive is slightly over 100GB. Right now, the computer’s principal use is to connect to the Internet, but, with Linux Lite installed, there will be more uses.

Some old notes I found indicate that I used EaseUS Partition Master in accomplishing some part of the dual boot installation that exists now, which included shrinking the space available for XP. About 50GB of unallocated space was used for the PCLOS installation, which would seem to mean that 50GB will be available to install Linux Lite, which will be done from a DVD iso. I am not sure how many partitions were used for the current installation, but I do remember including a swap file. The installation was done a few years ago, so I do not remember most of the details.

QUESTIONS: I am finding varied online suggestions related to what I should do in replacing one Linux distro with another when there is already a dual boot. I wish to keep Windows XP intact, but there are no PCLOS files that I cannot lose.
(1) Should I, in some way, wipe out the existing Linux installation before installing Linux Lite?
(2) Should I just install Linux Lite on top of the existing PCLOS installation?
(3) Either way, how do I accomplish that?
(4) What about the swap file and any other files/partitions that are installed now?
(5) Will Xenialpup (Puppy Linux) be useful in determining the current partition structure, or in any other way?
(6) I believe that “Grub” came up in some way with the current installation. Am I right in assuming that it will come up again in accomplishing the new installation?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have, and I thank you for your help!

hi guys actually i faced this issue in ll3.6 32bit and 64bit before heading to ll3.8 and hey i faced that problem too, the problem is that when opening some programs like Firefox or uget or terminal the cursor is working fine but when on desktop or another app (mostly the apps that came preinstalled ) it returns to a small white cursor which is really annoying and I faced it a lot so I assume that its not a software issue and that I can be fixed

ps: hey I found out that when I open mouse and touchpad and rechoose my cursor it works well until I restart , in other words for the cursor to work well I have to open mouse and touchpad every time I open the computer (temporary fix)

I'm now taking suggestions for new features in Linux Lite 4.0

What constitutes a good suggestion? (I'm going to number these so that I can help point out to those who make a suggestion that doesn't fit the below criteria)

1. An idea that benefits the majority. Personal ideas can be good, but remember, they are preferences personal to you.
2. Software, features, additions to existing software that will benefit most people.
3. New wallpapers: must be a minimum of 1080p, and less than 1mb, excellent quality (no pixelation) that has general appeal. Only png's and jpegs will be accepted and you must provide the actual source and accompanied license in a url.
4. Additions to the Help Manual. These are always welcome.
5. Avoid software that requires a PPA.
6. Cross platform software that computer users know of or use - must work on Mac Linux & Windows.

Example of a good suggestion:

I was thinking about adding a media multi converter to Lite Software. It will convert images, video, audio, documents etc. I think this is something that would benefit a lot of people.

I will read and consider every post in this thread. Please don't get disconcerted if I don't reply to your post. There is the chance I may think your idea would be better suited to the next Series for example.
