Freshclam AV suddenly using 50-80% CPU

I tried to install Freshclam AV last week. At the end of the process, I got an error regarding a config file not found, and it did not seem to finish the install.
Looking for Freshclam AV from the Whisker Menu or App Finder, it does not show, but if I type it into the search box in Whisker Menu, I see a 'gears' icon with 'Run Freshclam' text - but nothing happens when I click on it.
Suddenly today, my CPU is maxed at or near 100% and my CPU is running dangerously hot, around 90-deg C, with laptop placed 12-inches from a window AC. This laptop hits fatal temp at 94-deg C.
Checking 'show all processes' in Task Man shows Freshclam using between 50-80% CPU, but the graph shows solid 100% total CPU usage since startup.
Here is the install log from Freshclam last week - note that this just started today, after two weeks of no CPU issues in LL, and at least one week after Freshclam install attempt.

Task Manager - how to sort by columns...CPU, etc.
|

In Task Manager, clicking any of the column headers (PID, RSS, UID, CPU) to sort values high-to-low or vice-versa will change the sort order of the 'Task' on the right side of the panel, but it is not sorting correctly based on the desired column.
For example, clicking on 'CPU' header results in the tasks with highest CPU usage to be mixed among the tasks with 0% CPU usage.
Is there a fix for this?
Thanks

Change Window resize tolerance globally?

How do I increase the tolerance for window resizing with the mouse? It is difficult with a mouse and even more so with a laptop track-pad.
I have looked in all of the settings in the Settings Manager> Appearance, Desktop, Window Mgr, Window Mgr Tweaks, Accessibility, Mouse/Touch-pad, even the Settings Editor.
Is this similar to the post about resizing the scrollbar globally? If so, what is the syntax to add to gtkrc-2.0?
Thanks

Suspend on Lid Close Stopped Working

I have been running Linux Lite for about a month and up until now, it followed the settings in the power manager.
However, today it stopped suspending when I close the lid. Instead it does nothing and you can see if you turn the laptop on its side that it doesn't even shut the screen off.
I tried the solutions here and here.
This did not start after an update (though I updated the system before I started troubleshooting), so it's odd. The only thing that has changed today is that I replaced the keyboard of all things though I can't see how they'd be related.
The laptop is an old Acer Aspire One D270 I'm refurbing. Any other info just ask. I'm not sure where to go next in troubleshooting?

I have the E/Port, 130W Simple Port Replicator for Latitude E-Family. It is a docking station for my e6430. It worked fine when I used the Linux Lite 2.x series. I am now trying it for the first time with Linux Lite 3.4 64 bit. It works while it's going through the POST (power on self test), ie. I can see it get to the Dell splash screen and the GRUB menu, then it goes dark, the blue light on my monitor turns amber as if nothing is connected to it, and that's it. There is something in the Linux Lite 3.4 build that isn't allowing it to display.
It just so happens that I have a Dell e6330 for work. I connected it to the same docking station, and things work fine. It runs Windows 10 64 bit. Below are the specs on my Linux Lite 3.4 64 bit laptop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lowest Screen resolution

I am asking what should be the lowest screen resolution that should be supported for the plymouth bootsplash. Here is the reason, on most themes you only get a few resolutions that show the themes properly. Here is my experience going into this with modifying plymouth themes for the last few days. I found out that if I modified the the plymouth theme to work with resolutions going to 1920x1080, I would have to disregard any resolution of 640x480 or lower to display properly at the higher resolutions. This is most notable when using a VM booting the install. Suggestions are appreciated.

Sound volume is either 100% or muted

Hi all,
Just installed 3.4 on a HP Pavilion dv5000.
I found when I launched Youtube one day through Firefox the volume was loud at 100% but turning it down from panel volume control has no effect until I reach close to 0% where it turns off completely. I have no gradual volume control.
The same thing with VLC player.
If I enter Sound Settings and find the Firefox / VLC stream then I can gradually control the volume however the global control does not do this and clearly that's a lot more convenient.
