The  openssh-server is installed, i can access from the local machine via ssh,  but not from a remote machine.
Something like a firewall blocks the connexion ???  the connection ??. I didn't activate any firewall , I use it as I installed it.

I have the same problem with xrdp:  I can connect with rdesktop from the local machine , but not from a remote one

  How do install Shotwell?
Posted by: SICKOFLINUX - 05-03-2017, 09:39 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (7)

Because I am sick & tired of trying to get new photo's into a workable system now I have installed Linux Lite?

I do not understand that file manager gubbins or gimp or see any use in image viewer & am sick & tired of having to learn new stuff  every time I 'upgrade' Linux. This is all just so bloody depressing.....I have shotwell on a notebook with Lubuntu & no problems at all it just could'nt be easier...... (have tried to download shotwell just now & it dos'nt even seem an option)  >Sad

Older man who was desperately trying to leave all things Windows--and tried quite a few linux distros. But when I found Linux Lite, I could
finally relax. THANKS! Just what I need. Best regards to all here.

GET_IPLAYER The problem seems to have returned?  Anyone else having problems?
Using giPlayer GUI

Have tried several times to install smplayer from the repository using

Selecting previously unselected package smplayer.

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

  Delete Swap Partition
Posted by: johnnyboy5000 - 04-30-2017, 05:10 PM - Forum: Hard Drives and SSDs - Replies (5)

I didn't realize that 12 GB out my 64 GB SSD was taken for a swap drive when I installed Linux Lite.  Does anyone know how I can delete that?  My PC has 12 GB ram which is a lot for Linux Lite so I would probably never need the swap drive anyway.  Thanks for any help.

  Wrong locale on installation
Posted by: barnaby - 04-30-2017, 10:26 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - No Replies

I recently installed LL without any problems. As I was installing, it correctly found that I am in the UK and it suggested London for the time zone. Fine. However, when I checked later by running locale in a terminal screen, I found that the locale was set to the US. I had to change it to en_GB myself. Then, of course, I found that the Orage calendar was now showing Monday as the first day of the week. I like my weeks to start on a Sunday, so I had to change that too.

But my main query is, having found the correct time zone for me during installation, why did the installer set my locale to the US?

  Cannot check for updates error
Posted by: kat - 04-30-2017, 12:00 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (1)

OK I posted here not to long ago about an update install error. Here I am again with a different computer with linux lite doing the same thing, but this time the error is this, "Linux Lite Updates couldn't fetch the package cache information lists".
I did the three terminal commands that Torreydale gave me for the last problem I had with update errors. The commands seemed to be working in the terminal, so I restarted the computer and tried the updates again. They did the same thing as above. What should I do?
