Persistence Size - LL3 on 8G USB drive
Posted by: Ironfighter - 12-20-2016, 11:55 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (5)

I have just successfully installed LL3 on an 8G stick using Linux Live USB creator on a Windows 8 e540 ThinkPad with 16G of Ram.  I am very impressed with this distro so far having used Puppy Linux in the past which I also think is a great - but for me as a Linux novice Linux Lite seems far easier to use.  My questions are:

1. How much drive space does the initial install use?
2. How can I tell how much space I have available for installing additional packages?
3. How can I tell how much space I have available for packages and "saved" files like text documents and spreadsheets etc.

As an aside I love that desktop and the fonts - a thing of beauty.

Tried updating this morning via Install Updates and it was failed. Refered to /var/log/llupdates.log

7 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0 B/458 kB of archives.
After this operation, 6,144 B of additional disk space will be used.

Lite Themes updated - all corners grabable
Posted by: valtam - 12-19-2016, 05:05 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (7)

All window corners should now be grabable.

I know many of you have been waiting for this feature and have lived without this for so long. Thank you for your perseverance. Install Updates to get this now. Change themes, then change back to Arc to see this straight away, or logout/in.

I have reinstalled Lite 3.0, noticing, again, the lack of Ubuntu Software Center or derivatives. What would you suggest I install?

  Volume Prompt Displays Multiple Times
Posted by: PinStripe - 12-19-2016, 01:18 AM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Volume Prompt Displays Multiple Times when I depress the volume key on my keyboard.
Why is this? This is a BUG!

I hit the volume key like 4-5 times and I have 4-5 volume prompts on my screen.

Needs to be fixed.

How to change Compiz GTK theme
Posted by: TheLamerLinux - 12-18-2016, 12:24 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (3)

Hello,

I use Linux Lite for a good time and I really like it. I found a bug on XFWM and it goes with docky show a line above docky I also tried Plank and it was same. I disable XFWM and the line stop so I decided it use Compiz I follow this website: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/11/how-to-se...10-or.html

I know it's old but it works but it gives me an ugly theme to it which I use the default theme "Arc-Dark" here is a screenshot what it looks like:

I want to get my theme back to it and I want to know can I put the buttons where I had it before (I put the buttons where Ubuntu Unity have theirs).

If there is no way I can get my GTK theme working then how can I get Emeralds working I use to use Emeralds along time but I just got to the point I don't install it anymore and now I tried to install it using Noobslab PPA they don't have it anymore.

Network locations missing from system dialogs
Posted by: paul1149 - 12-17-2016, 10:30 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

I was trying to do a sync across the LAN to a Windows unit, using FreeFileSync. I was surprised when setting up the destination to see that the local network was not listed in the dialog. Then I tried to save a web page from Vivaldi, and found the same problem. The Save dialog lists Places from Thunar in the left pane, but does not go on to list Network as Thunar does. Is there some way to navigate to network shares when saving or opening a location?
