Run "nmcli nm wwan on" at startup?
Posted by: sebastian - 03-04-2015, 12:11 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (1)

I have tried to get the system to run "nmcli nm wwan on" at startup so the wwan modem in the computer does not start in airplane mode all the time, but it does not matter if I put the command in ~/.profile or /etc/rc.local . wwan is still disabled.

However running nmcli nm wwan on in a terminal activates wwan, so it seems like the system disables wwan at some later stage.

Any ideas?

  Configure Network Share Settings
Posted by: valtam - 03-03-2015, 09:11 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (13)

In Linux Lite 2.4, configuring Network Share Settings is greatly simplified. All you will have to do is, Menu > System > Configure Network Shares, enter your password and follow the prompts.

This is a significant milestone for Linux Lite as this marks the end of any terminal based apps in LL.
It's been a long, rewarding road from Linux Lite 1.0 Smile

  improvements to "Recent Posts" section
Posted by: LL-user - 03-02-2015, 10:22 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (4)

Hi,

Not sure whether the forum software is 3rd party and can't be changed/ customized...

If yes, I'd like to suggest the following improvement to the "Recent Posts" section:

* add a scrollbar so that the user can scroll down the list of recent posts to find a little bit older ones
* maybe summarize all consecutive posts of the same topic in one line with a count

reason: The section is very small and only shows the last 7 posts. Quite often I can only see one topic due to an active discussion going on that created >= 7 entries in a row. In that case other, relatively new topics drop off the list and can't be picked up on the first glance at the forum.

Thanks for your time and consideration Smile

[SOLVED] Problem - Mounting Data Partition
Posted by: ChrisL - 03-02-2015, 09:26 PM - Forum: Hard Drives and SSDs - Replies (6)

I have LL 2.2 on drive, Mint on sbd1 along with my data partition which was shared with LL 2.2/Mint/Windows 7 (Win 7 used to be on sbd2 as well, but I removed after I was able to get some Windows programs running on Wine).  Now booting into either LL or Mint I get this:

1) On boot it tells me it can't mount data and Skip it to continue.
2) After boot attempting to mount manually I get: Failed to mount "Data"  Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sdb7: Command Line 'mount "/home/chris/data" exited with non-zero exit status 14: The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0).
Metadata kept in Windows cache, refused to mount.
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb7': Operation not permitted
The NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown
Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume
read-only with the 'ro' mount option

The Windows 7 data was not linked there, that was simply a default save location.

Thoughts?  It worked so great for weeks!

Chris

I guess I should mention I tried ro mount option with the following and got a very similar error message:

chris@chris-HP:~$ udisksctl mount --block-device /dev/sdb7 --options ro
Error mounting /dev/sdb7: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.Failed: Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sdb7: Command-line `mount "/home/chris/Data"' exited with non-zero exit status 14: The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0).
Metadata kept in Windows cache, refused to mount.
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb7': Operation not permitted
The NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown
Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume
read-only with the 'ro' mount option.

Hi all,
I have just installed " Kdepasswd " from the  " Lite Software Centre " it seems to have installed O.K. but I cant find it anywhere on the P.C. I have used " Run Program " and nothing happens. If I type a search for it in " Synaptic Package Manager " It shows as installed !
            I am running O.S. 1.0.8 Lite.

  Screen Locked During Install
Posted by: friimynd - 03-02-2015, 10:54 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (1)

how do i unlock the screen if it locks up during an install?
...
well, i tried hitting restart, and i guess the install finished, because it is running fine; doing updates now
.
i chose it because it looks good, it works, and it doesn't use too many resources on my older laptop; when minimized, firefox plays last.fm using only 25% of cpu, which is decent compared to some others i have tried
.
it would be good to know how to get out of the screenlocker in the install/live version
.
tyvm, good so far
