I downloaded Google Earth from the internet (Debian/Ubuntu 64-bit version) but
failed to get gdebi package manager to install it. I also used the
synaptic package manager and downloaded the version there in the repository but
without luck there either.
In both cases, when gdebi started installation, the following message is given on
the gdebi window:
"Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: ia32-libs"
I then used the terminal "sudo apt-get install ia32-libs" but this failed to fetch and install
ia32-libs.
Any help, much appreciated.
Regards
Mike

Hi Thank you all for the help that I have been given to date. It has enhanced my appreciation of LL 2.0. immeasureably. I can now browse the internet with Firefox and enjoying the experience. I have also solved the problems I was having with Thunderbird Mail and am now able to send and recieve mail from Karoo with no bother whatsoever.
Sadly I am having to re enter all the data everytime I load LL 2.0 and thats a pain. I remember that years ago when I was using Knoppix 5 I was able to save all my settings on a thumb drive and not have to re enter them every time I boot up. I have a spare thumb drive and am wondering if and how I could do this in LL 2.0.? Could anyone guide me into the details of how to? If I can get these things sorted out I think maybe, before long I would be willing to remove Win XP and replace it with LL 2.0.

I installed 2.2 Beta a few days ago and now it's my favorite Linux distribution: easy to use, fast and versatile. So far I have experienced no glitches, though I can't get the weather screenlet to work for my address.
I gave up Windows a couple of years ago, feeling I had no control over the processes in my own computer. I especially like LL's lack of the paranoia that makes free access to my network files difficult in many other versions of Linux.

I started using a dual boot of LL 1.06/W7 SE about a year ago on my netbook and love it so much, i rarely log into Windows....except for when I "have" to.
I have several programs that run on Windows, like Garmin Connect and Itunes, that supposedly have to be run on Windows/Apple.
Is there any way to run these on LL? If i can figure this out, I'm taking the plunge and going all the way with 2.0 ;-)
Thanks,
Steve

You now need to read the rules, especially the new rule #15 to ensure your music is allowed.
