Hi,
I have MacMini 2.1, Core2Duo @ 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, running Linux Lite 3.6 (x64), kernel 4.4.0-93-generic.
LL runs very smoothly on it. I'm very pleased. The only problem is my MacMini cannot wake after being auto-suspended (based on Power Management setting). What is interesting is that if I see the computer going to sleep and shortly go and press the power button to wake it up, it will. Bit if I leave it overnight, the next day when I press the power button, it only shows a black screen and never wakes up (it just hangs) and I have to restart it.
I tried to fix this by reading various posts, but it's not working great. I have the following setting in GRUB:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash resume=/de/sda3 video=1280x1024 reboot=warm,cold,bios,smp,triple,kbd,acpi,efi,pci,force"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="module.sig_enforce=0"
In The Power Management settings I have:
System Sleep mode - suspend after 30 minutes being inactive
(the other settings I did not specify since think they are not relevant to the problem)
I used this MacMini with Bootcamp which I usually booted to Win7 and the sleep/suspend modes were working correctly (same for the OSX on the maachine). Also, I could wake the computer by just clicking with the mouse or pressing a key (while with LL I had to press the power button).
I'd appreciate any help on my issue? Thank you!
Regards,
George

Been running Linux full time on my personal computer for a couple of years now. Before that I have "tested the waters" so to say for probably 15 years, while using Windows as my main OS. Still use Windows at work, and have an XP VM for those occasions where I'm too lazy to convert stuff to a Linux friendly format.
Anyway, thought I would give Linux Lite a go on this old ThinkPad T43p. So far, so good, except that it boots with NumLock on, and that's a no-no on a ThinkPad.

| Can I upgrade from LL3 to LL4 without destroying Linux-only dual-boot integrity |

From the following link, which refers to setup1 in signature, you will see the partitioning details of the LL3.6 / PCLinuxOS dual-boot system on a single SSD as follows - you will see that LL has the boot flag:
https://imgur.com/a/FddMV
I assume that when LL4.0 is eventually installed, replacing LL3.8, the boot flag will be destroyed with the clean-install and PCLinuxOS wont appear on the grubscreen and will therefore be inaccessible from dev/sda5, at least initially.
My question is:
Is there any way to recover the installed PCLinuxOS on sda5, so that the dual-boot is fully functional again, after installation of LL4.0 ? How do I get PCLinuxOS back onto the grubscreen? Obviously I want to avoid having to reinstall PCLinuxOS ...
Many thanks in advance for your help & comments.
Much appreciated as always.
Mike

Over the years, I've collected several laptop HDDs, particularly now that we've converted all our household's computers to the much faster SSDs.
However, I don't really want to get rid of these old drives, especially if I can find a use for them.
If I could somehow combine these HDDs (they vary in size from 250GB to 1TB) into one large drive, then I could use them
for external data storage, via USB connectivity.
Could someone either explain to me how I can do this, or at least point me in the right direction?
Many thanks - much appreciated.
Mike
