I am in the process of converting a friend from Windows 10 to Linux Lite.  The one and only question I have is.... will Lite support Canon Pixma MX310 All in One Printer?

Hi again, I'm back with more questions!

I am now converting a Dell Inspiron 1300 to LL 3.4 and overall going well.  Interestingly this Inspiron connected fine with the ethernet cable, updated fine, AND I checked for drivers (no Wifi ones came up) AND the Wifi is still not working.

A previous post of mine with a Dell Inspiron 1545 which had the same issue was resolved when a driver was identified via the "Update Drivers", however no drivers showed up for Wifi.

I have checked BIOS and the Wifi is enabled and I also pressed "Fn/F2" but still no Wifi comes on.

What does work is the Wifi USB stick so I have it in (just because it is less cumbersome that the ethernet cable) and ran ifconfig although I was not sure if maybe the ifconfig pertains only to ethernet issues..?

So my question is:  Does this info suggest what is wrong? AND might there be a reasonable fix?

I'm wondering if maybe the MiniPCI Device is shot"?  If need be I can suggest to the person using this computer to simply work with the Wifi USB.

I wanted to use i3 but it kept refusing, so what I did is I removed everything about XFCE so that LinuxLite has no choice but to choose i3. When I rebooted I see the original Linux Lite wallpaper and I entered my login and pass and then I see the Debian logo and the Fedora Desktop style Window Manager. I'm stuck...

EDIT: I did "i3 --replace &" it didn't worked, didn't worked either and it was just saying I was already running a window manager.

EDIT 2: I choose gdm and now everything is working perfectly, but I prefer lightdm for the look of the login screen. Oh well.

I don't usually make a habit of reminiscing on how it used to be with Windows OS & its software - that said, changing the background colour of the whole page, and saving that change, for an individual file in MS Word, was dead easy.

However, I find that when I set the background page colour in LibreOffice Writer, all my Writer files subsequently have that colour, rather than limiting the colour change to a specific file.

I can't find any simple intuitive way of doing the above in LibreOffice Writer.
Can someone give me a clue on how to do this ...

I set it to suspend after 30 minutes of no activity, but when it gets there it asks for authentication!

I will be getting another new machine by the end of this month and I'm going to dedicate a partition to Linux Lite 64bit. I intend to test and do some debugging of the new Remmina edition which has finally made it as far as backports in Deb stable and a new PPA in Ubuntu LTS. This is an application well suited to the LL philosophy of GUI simplicity and friendliness. As far as gnome-boxes it is suited to LL for the same reasons. Much easier to set up and use than Oracle though I am not sure how Qemu will work, if at all with LL. I use it regularly in Ubuntu LTS and again its simplicity for USB switching and the simple GUI make it a great candidate for Windows converts wanting to run virtual systems. It is certainly the simplest. I think both of these applications are very well suited for a "transitioning" Linux distribution.
