hey guys im back . after an lil stint in Debian my install crash and burn so i decide to jump back to Lite. but anyways i am working on an lil project and need some ideas. i am launching an Linux online magazine. i am currently looking forward on writing an article on this Distro, but right now i am trying to find if the mascot has an name if so what is it?  been trying to aim more to kids so i made it an funny Mafia Motif, where the Godfather of Linux is Debian and busgy character is Fedora. of course for those to i had to think of names.

  Lite Software - Error
Posted by: Ottawagrant - 01-10-2017, 02:21 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Thought I should report this one.  I started 'system' > 'Lite Software' & noticed in the 'remove' section that it showed I had 'Skype'. I don't use it, so I thought I'd remove it. Highlighted 'Skype' & hit the 'remove' button. It returned an error message "Lite Software Error: - Unable to locate package skype-bin". I have no idea if Skype is installed by default in LL. I had never installed it if it wasn't. Hope this helps.

Posted by: Ironfighter - 01-10-2017, 10:52 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (11)

I have a windows 10 "Protab" tablet - do you think I could install Linux Lite on it?  Here are its specs:-

Micro-USB & MicroSD Input (Supports up to 32GB)
Android 5.0 Lollipop
Google Play Store
16GB Storage^ & 1GB RAM
Quad Core Processor
10" HD Touchscreen (1024 x 600)
0.3MP Front Camera
Bluetooth 4.0 Connectivity

I bought it on a whim because it was cheap but its going to waist sitting in a cupboard for the last 12 months.

My problem

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc...ug/1654511

This will cause updater to fail for some users like me.

My fix

Code:
$ cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1    localhost
127.0.1.1    shop1

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1     ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
91.189.92.191 archive.canonical.com

which makes everything work OK with the updater

Code:
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get -f install
[sudo] password for harry:

Just mentioning this in case anybody else besides me runs into this. My install is fixed so no help question by me in this thread.

  Adding a Personal Wallpaper?
Posted by: PinStripe - 01-08-2017, 08:09 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (12)

I am just curious as to Why the programmers haven't included an ADD button to the desktop settings
window to be able to add your own wallpaper. I see that they are kept in the XFCE folder, but I am
setting up new people on the OS who will not want to be searching for this folder.

Please add a button in the desktop settings window.

  Canon MG5650 Duplex Printing - Recent Problem
Posted by: Daveyboy - 01-08-2017, 05:28 PM - Forum: Printing and Scanning - Replies (11)

[size=1em]Using Linux Lite 3.2 with a Canon MG5650 all single sided pages print perfectly as expected every time.[/size]

[size=1em]Duplex pages also printed perfectly as expected every time UNTIL VERY RECENTLY however, now whenever I try to print using duplex printing , the first page always starts printing 28mm higher up the page, therebye cutting off part of the document, regardles of what type of file is being printed. No settings have been changed in the printer configuration files although I have tried deleting and reinstalling the printer without any success.[/size]

[size=1em]As I said, both options worked perfectly up until very recently so I can only assume that one of the recent updates may have caused this issue but I am at a loss as to how to solve it and would very much appreciate any help that you guys might be able to offer [/size]

Please help me, I'm a newbie.  Upon trying to install the software. I'm able to select the language, presented two options to select updating and installing third party, but the third process  I receive an Install crashed message that follows  (no drive appears either):

We're sorry; the installer crashed. After you close this window, we'll allow you to file a bug report using the integrated bug reporting tool. This will gather information about your system and your installation process. The details will be sent to our bug tracker and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible.

As usual update your Firefox browser. Personally, I do not use it. Prefer Opera and Chrome.
