| Removed LibreOffice using Synaptic but icons persist in Menu... |

On my 10" Samsung netbook (see setup2 in sig below) I've found that LL3.2 runs less snappily in general than LL2.8 which I was using previously, e.g. boot-up time = 52 seconds, LL3.2; 36 seconds, LL2.8.
In an effort to speed things up I've been deleting software that I don't need or replacing it with lighter stuff (using Synaptic). For example, I've replaced LibreOffice with Gnumeric & Abiword and replaced Firefox with Slimjet, etc. However, the icons for LibreOffice under 'Office' in Menu still persist - how do I get rid of these?
Thanks for your help

The Wifi icon, which is normally on the right of the panel, disappeared when I clicked on it this morning to look at connection information.
In an attempt to fix this I did the following: right clicked on panel panel add new items indicator plugin.
This did not fix the problem but instead resulted in two copies of the icons for volume control and bluetooth appearing (I clicked "add new items twice).
How can I fix this? I'm using LL3.2.

| Turn off desktop grid snap |

Hello folks,
Sooooo....I have not found a solution to this anywhere. I need to be able to completely turn off the icon grid snap on the desktop. I am building some public library computers and the icons need to be placed in specific locations against a custom wallpaper on the desktop. The icons are arranged under header on the wallpaper. This allows new user at the library to easily find the icons they need to use. The grid snap is not allowing me to position the icons anywhere close to where they need to go. Is there a way to remove the grid snap completely.....as I have not found one yet.
Thanks in advance.....

Works perfectly. Kernel updated this morning to 4.4.0-47-generic #68 when I clicked on the 'install updates' to see if there were any. Thanks for adding this feature to LL. I usually read about a security issue here on the forum, go to synaptic, etc. etc. Saves a lot of work!

After having rsync'd and deleted the original /home folder, I did not find the new copy. If Puppy Linux live CDs automatically mount fstab, this could have been the problem.
I am on the Linux Lite live DVD at the moment of posting this. Will its default settings work for copying over?

Since the release of Lite 3.2, I can't seem to upgrade or install anything at all. Some error while upgrading lite-software seems to be stopping it.
Code: Setting up lite-software (2.0-0200-linuxlite) ...
sed: can't read /etc/X11/Xsession.d/98vboxadd-xclient: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing package lite-software (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
lite-software
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I'm still using 3.0 because I can't upgrade anything. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
